As one of the longest-running hero shooters out there, Rainbow Six Siege always gives only limited options for each operator when it comes to weapon choice. Unlike Valorant where players get to select their weapons freely with no ties to the character they pick, Rainbow Six Siege locks certain weapons behind certain characters.

This already makes character selection in Rainbow Six Siege much harder, as sometimes you need to either pick the utility over weapons or vice versa. However, if your role in the team is to get kills and become the top fragger, you might not mind sacrificing some skills or abilities for a better gun. That's why you need to learn about the best weapons before you venture forth!
10 Vector.45 ACP
Despite its crazy recoil, Vector.45 has always been one of the best options to kill close and medium-range targets. Of course, it still needs to overcome the weapon's harsh recoil but even if you hold down the trigger on your target for half a second, you will still get the kill no matter which part of the body you are shooting at.
One more advantage of Vector.45 is the fact that its massive fire rate makes it easy to pre-fire at a possible target before peeking, and that's what a Mira player needs more than anything else.

9 P90
Putting Alda 5.56 aside, P90 is the most comfortable weapon in recoil control when it comes to guns with a fire rate beyond 900. Although the damage rate is a total disappointment, you can easily drill through the opponents if you can keep the crosshair on your target long enough.
Back in the old days of Siege, Ela was quite overpowered with her Scorpion, but now, you can think of P90 as a very weak replica of that Scorpion era, but only for veterans.

8 416-C Carbine
For years, 416-C Carbine used to be one of the most powerful weapons on the Defender side, and despite the fact that it still hasn't lost its high damage rate, Ubisoft has messed up with the recoil pattern too much that now only veterans can control it properly.
Even with all the nerf done, 416-C Carbine is one of the few ARs on the Defender side, and the deadliest weapon you can have excluding shotguns and rifles.

7 MP5K
Although the DPS rate of MP5K is lackluster, the weapon is still one of the most comfortable SMGs on the Defender side. If all that matters to you is recoil, MP5K is your best option after Commando 9. Back in the old days, MP5K was even better with the 1.5x sight, but now both Wamai and Mute have lost access to it.
That being said, the weapon is still a reliable choice for targeting any mid-range or long-range opponents without too much whiffing.

6 9x19VSN
Going just a little bit harsh on recoil control from Commando 9 takes us to this Spetsnaz-favored SMG. 9x19VSN is a pretty solid weapon in Rainbow Six Siege that has not gone under surgery a lot, mostly thanks to its long-lasting balance.
The weapon is pretty controllable for any veteran Siege player, and with a damage rate of 34, it offers a better DPS over weapons like MP5K or MPX. That being said, the lack of a 1.5x sight for 9x19VSN is the only reason why we can't put it any higher than this on the list.

5 FMG-9
FMG-9 is a more forgiving version of MP7 when it comes to recoil control. Although the fire rate is a bit slower, the damage rate on the other hand is a few hitpoints higher than MP7. This new combination makes FMG-9 a more controllable weapon for novice players and a great option to deal with long-range targets, thanks to its 1.5x sight.
Although veteran Smoke players usually choose the M590A1 shotgun over FMG-9, if you already have a rotation-maker in your squad, you shouldn't miss out on this quite reliable SMG.

4 UZK50GI
Similar to Mozzie's Commando 9, Thorn's UZK50GI also has a minimal vertical recoil that you can learn to control quite fast. The only thing that makes this weapon stand beneath Commando 9 is the lower fire rate which reduces the amount of damage dealt per second significantly.
UZK50GI is another good option for starters in Rainbow Six Siege, but it is also an easy choice for any veteran to earn quick headshots even at a long distance. Thanks to its 1.5x sight that was added later in Y8S2, UZK50GI is even more reliable now.

3 ALDA 5.56
This hidden gem is the only machine gun in this list and yet it is more capable than most SMGs and ARs in the list. Maestro's Alda 5.56 is a killing machine on the defender side with a DPS rate that equals some of the best attacker weapons.
Despite its 900 fire rate, the weapon still has a pretty controllable vertical recoil. Probably the only reason why Alda 5.56 still remains unpopular is the fact that it only belongs to Maestro who is a 1-Speed operator. The other shortcoming of this weapon is its longer ADS time compared to SMGs or ARs.

2 MP7
If you want high damage and fire rate at the same time, MP7 is the best SMG you can find for that purpose, but in return, you also need to overcome the crazy vertical recoil. Hopefully, there is no horizontal recoil to deal with, but MP7 is still a weapon for veterans.
It can be quite difficult to hit long-range targets with MP7 without whiffing if you don't have enough practice, but once you know how to control this wild SMG, you can't be stopped easily.

1 Commando 9
Mozzie's assault rifle is one of the most comfortable weapons ever in Rainbow Six Siege. Thanks to its pretty minimal vertical recoil, Commando 9 is quite easy to control even if you hold down the trigger longer than you should.
What makes this weapon effective is the fact that it still deals a significant amount of damage at a high fire rate. Basically, it's not too easy to control weapons with almost 800 fire rates, but Commando 9 is surely one of the few exceptions here and a great weapon for beginners in the game.
